Hello, I'm wondering if I have to go with the Supergen 2000 (which ]has
S-VHS conections) in order to use a genlock with my A2000 and output to
S-VHS VCR? I have heard that there is an adaptor that can be made to
convert a standard genlock (I have progen) to work with the S-video. Is
this true? I am wanting to start with some simple titles and overlays for a
basic how-to video, editing on S-VHS so I can dub down from that to
standard VHS. Is there anyone doing this now? Most of the people I talk
with are using broadcast quality equipment and do it for a living, so I get
the feeling that they are trying to drum up business for themselves and not
giving me the unvarnished story about how good or bad the quality realy is.

If you want S-VHS quality, you nedd an S-VHS genlock. Some convert the
incoming video to composite, do the genlock magic, then reconvert back to
super. It works, but is not as good as pure super.
Neriki makes an external ganlock with S-VHS also, for about the same
price as the SuperGen 2000. —Mike
