Hi Mike, Have you or anyone else solved the mystery of converting fonts made with Fontographer3.5?! I just bought some "dingbat" type font from a company in Chicago, & guess what, they used Fontagrapher3.5, & I can't use all of them. I converted with TypeSmith, they had a custom character set so I used the TypeSmith one & got all but 7. Not bad if this were a PD or SW font, but I paid a lot for it. Grrrr Gracia

I've heard of some problems with fonts created with Fontographer 3.5, but I don't know if theses are valid problems or not. Somebody posted a message saying 3.5 fonts wouldn't work with Post and a bunch of things. Dingbats are a hard font to convert when you only have 255 characters. Until Amiga software supports font specific encoding, things will be a mess. TypeSmith does the best it can given the limitations of 255 characters. Michael – Soft-Logik Publishing

Gracia … no, I never did work out what the problem was. Unfortunately, the past couple of months has been filled with activity aimed at moving house, which I did two weeks ago … now most of my time is spent getting the house in order 🙂 The problem, as I recall, was just with POST and I'm fairly certain that the embedded comments within the encrypted section are the cause … but I've just not had time to spend on experimentation to prove it one way or another. It is on the "to be done" list, but I'm afraid not just now. As for complex fonts, it's difficult to map all those extra characters with only an 8 bit limit …. I guess TypeSmith did pretty well to give you all but 7 of them. Mike

Mike, You have my sympathy….moving is a trama! I moved from New York City to the country in North Carolina 2 years ago & I'm still not together <g>. Actually the "Tender-Caps", a very ornate font, prints, it just didn't make too many screen fonts. TypeSmith does do a very good job. What I don't understand is why some fonts worked & then all of a sudden started to give me trouble. Since this happened after I got the 4000 I naturally ascribed to Pp3 & the 4000, but the same thing happens with Pp4. Gracia
