Hard drive problem.

I have just installed a second Quantum 40 meg ProDrive in my Amiga 2500
with an A2091 controller card. I am running Workbench 2.1 with updated roms on
the 2630. Incidentally, I have a 2386 Bridgeboard in place.
My problem is that my machine locks up when copying from one hard drive
to the other. The new drive is SCSI address 0 and is first in the chain with
not terminating resistor packs. The old drive is SCSI 6, and is second in the
chain with terminating resistors. I have tried variations of this, but none
seems to work.
Strangely enough, each drive works well on its own – as long as you do
not try to copy from one to the other.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on ?

About your problem copying files from one SCSI drive to the other: Make sure
that:
all partition names are unique
ONLY ONE partition is a boot partition
you have plenty of buffers assigned Also, check out both drives with
HDToolbox — this may give a clue. From things I have heard over the years,
the 2091 seems the likely culprit. Check with your source(s) for both the 2091
and the new drive. Good luck!

I did not see a reply to your message so….
Check with HDToolbox or BattMem to see if "Reselection" is on or off. It
is possible that one or both drives will not handle reselection properly.
Are the drives partitioned? What are the device and partition names? Why
is there air?
If you have solved this one, then I appologize for "butting in" so late
(have been out of state for awhile).
