#PAR.exe ver 1.07
23 messages in this thread
I just got a Fed Ex from DPS. It's a new ver of the PAR.exe and Partest.exe.
I wonder what this is all about???
Don:
I don't know – what is the version # of both new programs?
Greg Pyros
Bug fix for some Micropolis drives that had garbage on them from the factory.
This confused the PAR.EXE and locked it up. There is was a eazy fix ( format
it1), but we just fixed it so that no one had to call tech support.

I was wondering what, if anything else was improved upon with the new version
of PAR.exe. It seems to scroll through the BLF numbers faster, or is this just
my imagination? <g>
Dave, I've had quite a few visitors in here gawking at this thing and everyone
is quite impressed. One of my (former) clients left here saying hees going to
buy one now. Oh well!
Are you aware of the PXP install bug? Everybody is experiencing it.
Glad DPS is making its presence here on the forum.
Thanks.

Yes we are aware of it and it was fixed. Remember that the currect
version of all of software is always online at (416)754-8368.

David,
Called the BBS yesterday and there is currently NO files under the DOS file
section.

Whoops, it will up there tonight with other bug fixes that cure the join bug.
>>…with other bug fixes that cure the join bug.
Does this happen to be the same bug that was eating my files that I mentioned
in a previous message to Greg Pyros? If so, does this mean you're reading all
the forum message? If so, great support!
Is there any facitliy for getting software upgrades by mail rather than by BBS?
Also, where can I send wishlist items for the GUI PAR program?
I'd like to repeat: what a great gadget this thing is!

Yes, you found a bug in the sort, the files are acually still there, just not
shown, it is fixed and will up tonight.
>If so, does this mean you're reading all the forum message? If so, great

Yes, I have been reading the messages for a couple of months, but just the 3DS
section, not the hardware. Guess I should of looked around a bit more, but
will be reading this section when in town.
>Is there any facitliy for getting software upgrades by mail rather than by
BBS?
Major updates will be mailed out, right now we will not be sending out anything
for a couple of weeks. I will let everone know of new versions on the BBS here.
>Also, where can I send wishlist items for the GUI PAR program?
To me!
David,
Thanks for your quick support. One thing bothers me…
>>the files are actually still there, just not shown.
This means the phantoms are taking up room on my drive. How do I delete them
without reformatting the drive?

There are there but not allocated. If you did anything after the join, they
have been written over.
No big deal. Did you try the fix yet?
>>phantom philes – no problem…
>>did you try the fix yet?
Thanks for drive integrity reassurance. If by trying "the fix" you
mean did I get a new version from the BBS, the answer is no.
Card-carrying cheapskate that I am, I avoid long distance phone
charges when ever possible. I thought I would wait awhile and see if
there were any more fixes so I'd only have to do it once. Can you
give me an idea of 1) what the download file size is, and 2) when we
might see the next update. Also, have you considered uploading the
file to ASOFT, making it more accessible to your biggest fans?
BTW, I finished & delivered my 1st project with the PAR – everyone was
pleased, especially my VTR. <g>
PS: I just pulled the PAR from a 60Mhz Pentium and stuck it in a 66Mhz
box with no problems, not that I expected any – just reporting "all's
well".
You seem so exuberant about this thing that it makes me curious what kind of
output you can get out of it. You got a demo tape? I'd like to see it.

If anyone wants a demo tape I have about a 5 minute one that I can send out on
beta SP or S-VHS. Just email your address to me.
<< anyone want a demo tape?? >>
Yes I (product support) do (does). If anyone wishes to
share their demo tapes with us here at product support
please (please!) mail them to:

Thanks in Advance. BTW, my order is already in. <g>

Thanks, I would like to try the new release to see if that will reset the
VIPER to the correct mode on exit.

>>the great body coverup…
Andy,
I haven't seen the Humanoid stuff, but:
Mannequin (now defunct, I believe) has no clothes. Check out
50PMAN that comes with 3DS
Tom Knight's magneficent people come with multiple layers of
clothes that you can mix and match, take on/off. These, in
addition, are fully animatable, clothes and all. $495 or so each
model.
It is very difficult to build respectable clothing objects, or
any other "organic" model. (i.e. anything that has surfaces that
are other than geometric primitives.) That's one reason Knght's
models cost so much.
BTW, I love Rachel's little People (for People).

Ralph – I apologize for what must have been a confusing message –
calling you Andy and then talking about some people meshes you didn't
ask about! It was the classic case of message digit transposition.
Sorry!
Dave,
Two PAR questions:
#1) The way the software is setup for 3DS, can the PAR be used to view the
images while designing the animation. In otherwords .. can you render to the
screen?
#2) Currently is their any MCI support?
Ang
Ang:
>> #1
Well, yes and no! Ok, maybe! <g> All you need to do is to tell 3DS to render
to a file, and have the drive be the PAR disk. This will do exactly what you
want, and you can later step through all your iterations a frame at a time to
see how you progressed! (The PAR always brings up an image as it is converted
onto the drive).
>> #2
Currently, no.
Are you going to NAB?
Greg Pyros
>> Are you going to NAB? <<
Thinking about it .. will make my descission tommorrow I hope. Where'ya stay'n?

Any rendered animation frame can be sent to the PAR. I set up a
directory called test that I send test renders. When I no longer
want them, I just delete the whole directory.
#2) Currently is their any MCI support?
Rev 2.0 will be adding most all of the features that people will be
asking for included MCI/DDL etc. support for other programs.
