#Animator Pro backorder
7 messages in this thread
What's going on? I have called customer support twice in the last two
weeks and have not received a return call yet. I paid for Animator
Pro 3 weeks ago and haven't received the product. EPI Systems says
that you are short-handed in customer support and are working night
and day to keep up with backorders. From where I sit, after being
told that I would have the software in a week, 3 weeks seems
excessive. I was told this week (on Wed. by an EPI rep), that
Autodesk was going to ship it to me overnight directly, and that I
would have it on Thursday. It did not show up Thurs. or Fri. On Fri.
an EPI rep called to say that you were shipping it to them, not to
me, and that they will have it on Monday and courier it to me then.
My patience is wearing very thin at this point. I don't care who is
"right" or "wrong". I fully expect to receive it on Monday, and if
not, I will get a full refund immediately. This is ridiculous. I will
make one suggestion to Autodesk: why not just sell your own products
directly instead of making customers go through third-party dealers? I
should not have to waste my money following up on this stuff. I'm the
customer, remember? This finger-pointing has got to stop. Just cut
out the middle man. I'd rather buy my stuff from PC Zone
anyway–they ship overnight and are never backordered. I am also
appalled that I have not received one call back from an autode that I
have not received one call back from an Autodesk CSR after making two
calls.
Maura,
<< order frustration >>
I'm sorry for your frustration :-(. I will forward this message on
monday morning to customer service. I'm in product support. For
everyone's knowledge, shipping went through an inventory very
recently and installed new processes/software. These two issues set
them back in time. Everyone there is trying to catch up. They
*should* have called you back…..
Thank you for forwarding my message. I appreciate it. Supposedly I
will have the software Monday. Supposedly EPI will have received it
by then and will courier it out to me. I understand that things *do*
happen — but the frustration I feel is when there is no return call.
It would take all of 30 seconds to explain on the phone what you have
simply told me here. Thank you.
Join the club – I waited over 6 weeks to get my AniPro update (same
excuses) and when it came, it was the foreign hardware-locked version
(with no hardware lock!) I was pretty upset at the time. I got over
it. <g>
I don't think you'll ever see Adesk sell direct. Good or bad, they
are isolated from the users and expect the dealers to add value in
the way of support. Sometimes this works fine. Not where I live.
If you can get your refund, you might try contacting some of the
dealers who hang out on this forum and see if any of them have it in
stock. (These guys are great and will go to great lengths to help.)
Just broadcast a general message and you'll get responses by e-mail.
Good luck!
I had exactly the same thing happen to me, except I only had to wait 4
weeks to get the locked version of Ani Pro (also without a key). To
top it all off, when I returned it, the company lost my name and
address I I heard nothing about the software till I called five weeks
later. Fortunately they loaned me a copy until mine got there. Still,
I won't be doing any more buisness with them. I'll stick with KETIV,
locally.
Hi. I somehow doubt that I will actually get it tomorrow, as promised, but if
by some miracle it *does* arrive, I sincerely hope that they have NOT shipped
me the foreign hardware-locked version: because I will promptly send it back at
their expense for a full refund from the dealer. I personally find hardware
locks to be distasteful and insulting to my intelligence. And I will never
knowingly purchase ANY product that has one. This all reminds me of an incident
that took place some years back when I was working at a type and graphics shop.
We had purchased a $120,000 Lino 300 system from Linotype, brand new. In fact,
our shop was one of the first in the mid-atlantic area to own one. Within 6
months, Lino discontinued all software support and changed operating systems
completely. So we were stuck with a wonderful Unix-based system that performed
flawlessly for almost 4 years, until it was sold. But what was so awful was
that Lino bilked lots of money from companies like this, then discontinued
support entirely. It left a bad taste in many mouths. I hope that Autodesk
doesn't feel "too big for its breeches" and think that it can ignore the paying
customer. Because not too long from now, Macromedia will come out with its
Director for Windows, and when Windows 4.0 arrives, DOS will, in all
likelihood, bite it for good. Right now I'm beta testing for some software
vendors, and I can tell you, there's plenty of good stuff for Windows users if
you're tired of DOS based programs. Personally, I want Animator Pro simply
because its .FLC format is the standard, but I find that .AVI's are actually
easier to work with in some programs.
maura,
<< shipping.. >>
you may want to post your concerns in the shipping section of
this forum.. FWIW.
