Animation to tape?
7 messages in this thread
Hello to all,
I use 3DS and AniPRo and I want to see if there are any new methods
out there for getting to tape. My current understanding is that my
3DS animation sequences can be rendered two ways. They can be
rendered to tape frame- by-frame which requires equipment I can't
afford or using a production house's services (also expensive) or
they can be rendered as flics and recorded real-time with an encoder
which kills their quality by forcing the 256 color limit on them.
Rather than have my questions be limited by my knowledge I would like
to throw this out for all to respond with any info on this subject
they may have.
Thanks for reading this.

There is a new device called the PAR (Personal Animation Recorder)
from DPS.
I am sending you a ZIP file describing it with full specs. Many here
on the forum already have it, and have been raving about it!
Greg,
Could you send me the specs also on the PAR machine. We are looking in to
new and faster ways of getting to tape also. Would appreciate the information.

John:
Check out the DPS PAR board which will allow you to record .tga's to a vcr
without requiring frame accuracy. You will need a dedicated hard drive and
then its a matter of spitting the
tga's out to tape real time. The resolution and color will blow away the flic
method and will be indistinguishable from many of the frame by frame methods
available. The cost with hard drive should be about $3,000 but check with the
dealers like Greg Pyros for details and costs.
