>And just think what its going to be like when VR really gets going. Have you ever played Doom, with 2 networked players and a sound card on a fast 486? It's VR enough to kill DAYS! Full VR will kill weeks at a time… <g> (Doom is a 1st person perspective, realtime raycasting 3D VR HIGH action game. No predetermined paths here. FULL interaction. Violent, but definately addicting. It's the best game I've ever experienced.) (FWIW) JNJ

I spent close to two weeks right after Xmas addicted to the registered version of Doom. Defenitley not for all, but one fantastic game regardless, and the only game in my life I couldn't drag myself away from. After playing for a few hours and running through the levels at top speed, I would actually start to feel motion sickness, no joke. To get the full effect you need to listen with headphones on a soundblaster (the only card you can get full stereo w/ doom)…. pretty intense! It's now got modem and serial connection support. David

Actually it gets worse. I read that somebody made a patch for Doom to replace some of the head monsters with Barney. This is no joke. I thought the idea was hysterical, but I have not found this supposed patch yet.

Tim, >>…patch for Doom to replace some of the head monsters with Barney. "Doom II – The great Barney hunt". Now that I'd love to see. David

David: It IS awesome. I carpool 1-1/2 hours each way to-and-fro work, and two of us play against each other via a LapLink cable. If you think single-user is addictive, wait till you go head-to-head with a real person. Very cool. JSH

John, You can get the shareware version in the Gamers forum, and if you like it, get the full version for $40. I would have gladly paid double that, but be warned, the imagery will get fairly gruesome. David

David, Thanks for the warning. I think I'll pass. I pretty much spend my waking hours absorbed with 3DS or related stuff, and what extra time I have gets spent here. For some reaon games just don't do it for me anymore. <g> -JE
