Sportster/Amiga 9600+

Ken,
Woops :-o. So everyone's been telling me, 4 * 1.785 🙂
BTW, are you using ADOS 2.x or 1.3 and how do you have your serial preferences
set? I have an A500/ADOS1.3, 3Mb/RAM 512K/Chip and have the serial preferences
set to 9600, 8N1, Hardware Flow Ctrl. I'm using Access! comms software set to
8N1 9600. Do you see a problem with my configuration?
While connected to my Amiga, at 9600 the Sportster attempts to handshake but
carrier is lost immediately every time. Later at 2400, carrier is lost after
successful connection was made and I have logged in. In other words, I don't
get very far before I suddenly get NO CARRIER.
I Can't even get my toe wet at 9600 and can only get wet up to my ankles at
2400. What do you think?
Andy
I see nothing wrong with your term settings. I have a SupraFax 14.4 so I don't
know what *your* modems factory defaults are.
First I would reccomend that you upgrade to the ECS and run Ados 2.+ I'm runnin
2.04 with 1Meg Chip and 2Meg Ram.
Something else you can do…boot up your term program and type the following on
your screen….
AT\N3&Q5 then hit return and type… AT&W0 and hit return
the \N3 sets your modem to AutoReliable mode and *should* allow it to connect
with any remote modem reguardless of their \N setting. If your modem is not
currently set up with the \N3 it could cause the remote to hangup on you
depending on their setting.
The &Q5 is Asynchronous Reliable mode and will make your modem attempt the best
possible connection it can.
The &W0 stores this configuration to Memory bank 0 on your modem so that
anytime you send it an ATZ command it will use these settings.
As I stated earlier, it could be that 1.3 can't handle the 14.4 connect
rate…but I don't think that this is the problem you're having due to the fact
that you can't even hold a 9600 connect. Most likely its your modem setup.
Have you tried using the AT&F1 setting as an init string with your Term
program? Try it and see what happens.
Also, I'm using Jr.Comm as I did when I ran with 1.3 and still have no problems
with it.

Oh…and btw change your setting from 9600 to 19200. You should have no probs
with that.
Good luck
