FROM PERSON TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO UNZIP USING THE AMIGA
I have an amiga 500 with 1 meg ram. I downloaded the program named ARCHLP.EXE
. It says I should download LHARC.EXE . This file can be found when searching
the amiga files, but not when I enter the forum and try to download it. I also
can't find a PKAZIP.LZH when I am in library 16. Can you help me? I
appreciate any help or suggestions you can give. Thank you, Roger.

All of the unpacking programs are in Library 16 of AmigaUser.
Apparently, ARCHLP is getting a little old and may need to be updated a
bit. What it says is true, and the programs it describes work, but almost
everything in our libraries now need to be unpacked with LHA138.RUN from
Library 16 of AmigaUser. It can unpack files whose names end in either
.LZH or .LHA, which is nearly all of our files uploaded in the last year
or two.
LHA138.RUN is a self-dissolving archive. If you download it to DF0:, for
instance, once you are offline, just type:
cd df0:
lha138.run
and it will unpack itself, giving you several files. One will be the
documentation, which you need to read. Another will be LHA, which you
should copy to either your C: or Tools: directory. After that, it should
be ready for immediate use whenever you need it.
If you have files with names ending in .ZIP, I would suggest UNZIP.LHA
from Library 16 of AmigaUser. You will need to unpack it with LHA from
LHA138.RUN, described above.

Betty, I downloaded the archlp.exe and then tried to read it, but couldn't.
Whathave I done wrong.

You don't read archlp.exe. You run it. Just get to a cli, make the
directory containing archlp.exe your current directory, and then just type
its name: ARCHLP.EXE and it will run, and will give you a great deal of
information about archiving programs.

That file has been replaced by LHA138.RUN.

Try using ZIP.LHA (you'll need to download LHA138.RUN first)
Sorry that ARCHLP.EXE pointed you to files that weren't there. Apparently
they've been deleted. I'll see about updating ARCHLP.EXE (which should
be interesting…I'm not sure where the source is anymore!)
