Don, If you just bought 1.06, you should have a free upgrade form that came in the box. That's good for the next version (or any later version, should you choose to wait longer). With regard to the Merlin, we've never seen one and know absolutely nothing about it. –Ben …via AutoPilot

The package arrived with 6 disks and a rubber band holding them to gether. Nothing else was in the package!!!! DA

We don't ship _anything_ that way – you've been robbed. Return the package to your dealer and get your money back or a brand new sealed package. In the box you will find several forms, and the disk set is shrink-wrapped. Never, ever "rubber-banded".

I did not buy this from a dealer I previously owned your product and have purchased the last few upgrades direclty from you…check me out in your files…as I said I received this upgrade from you without any documentations or forms!!! rubber band to hold the disks together which Im still using…I received version 1.06

Aha… now we've gotten tot he heart of the matter. This was an upgrade – NOT a new purchase. Only the new purchase would have come with forms, box, etc. So your position is that of being able to upgrade for $25.00 –Ben …via AutoPilot

Hmm you seem to be missing my point……tell me are there differnet levels of costs for the upgrade? if fnot then I wnat my money back and Ill jsut upgrade to the neew version when it comes out……chek your records you will find I just bought your upgrade….are you guys crooks I could understand it if I used the software for a few months but to double charge is indecent!!!!If this is your stand Im selling my software and moving on to the competition. DA

No, I'm not missing the point – you are. No one is forcing you to upgrade now. We can't "double charge" you unless you are so im[prudent as to purchase twice. The answer is, simple, "Don't". Wait a few months and then do it; by then there will be another new version. We do upgrades constantly. This is no secret, and it's been this way for years. Your position is that when it gets near a new release, we should either not upgrade anyone or we should upgrade them twice. Neither of those scenarios are practical – and this is a business, so practicality is not just "an" issue, it's the _main_ main issue. If you feel the need to "move on to the competition", be my guest. You're in for a shock when you find out that many of the capabilities you had in IM R/t are no longer available to you, and you'll have spent more than your original purchase price _plus_ 4 or 5 upgrades _plus_ lunch at a decent eatery. :^) –Ben …via AutoPilot

You obviously have to take care of Biz so I get your point however when I called the other day to order the upgrade you or whoever it was could have just raised the point that a major update was due in a week or two. That would have been more fair…I could have made the decisi on as to upgrade or not….However you held back information which )(*&(%*%^'s me off so I may choose not to support your product by my $$$ and invest in another product and If I need IM hey I have some friends so mcuh for trying to play fair…I understand software companies trying to build and protect your investments but it seems you guys always hurt or neglect your customers that believe your product and are willing to spend $$ to see it being supported but with what just occurred imy my case tests my loyalty as I can easily get your product for free!!!

Don, Parden me for jumping in here, but I have been an owner of ImageMaster for quite a while and watched the trafic here for quite a while before that. At one time it was not uncommon for Black Belt to uprgead IM twice a month, and for a long time it was at LEAST once a month. Their upgrade policy if fair and the fact you get one free upgrade with your purchase is more that what most vendors offer. You probably talked to a receptionist that has little knowledge of when and what updates are going to happen. Chill out a little and hold off this upgrade for 2 months then upgrade and I bet you will be 2-3 versions up from now. The talk of pirating software will not do anything but antagonize Ben and others, threats (which is what you were doing) will get you nowhere fast here. You will ostrisize yourself quick not only with Black Belt but with anyone else who reads this forum. I have my own beefs with Imagemaster (no manual) but Black Belt Systems is one of the better Amiga developers around, and the uprgrades and support here on CIS are excelleant. my .02 …Steve ====>>> Motorola 68030 Inside <<<====

Your right on all accounts however they need some feedback from users. I have not been the recipient of all the free upgrades you spoke of but did receive onefree upgrade…Im burnt because I have to pay in cdn $$ whi ch comes to 50.00 to my doorstep…If I had been informed about the new upgrade I would have waited. The inside staff should be kept more informed on the new updates…I did not talk to a receptionist…I talked to Ben or whoever through email and paid by visa through email there was not mention of an update and I did ask which version I would be getting and what was new about it….the reply was lots…true enough….I still cant render to my Merlingraphics board so the upgrade was a waste….also I use this software as a hobby I have not received a red cent trying to use it profesionally. YOur also very right about threats I should not have stated that but if you look at my software collection youll find 3 double cases of original stuff…Some good like IM and others like MusicX and SOundscape which I paid primo dollars and did not receive an ounce of support….IM is on the forum to give useful help and just in that I gimy utmost respect …Im just hopping mad that I was not informed.

Fine. Steal it from your friends. Good thinking, Einstein.

Want to make a wager to see who owns more original software!! dig out your personal receipts and lets go at it! You guys have an excellent product and provide an excellent service by committing to this forum but you can also make mistakes and in this case you or whoever did by not informing me of what your describing as a significant release….as I said check your records I just bought it… I have a right to be mad! Youre lucky that you can have such an attitude in my bizIm forced to exceed the customers expectations.
