HELP!,
I'm new to Compuserve, how can I view weather maps and other graphics on
my Amiga 500. I have no hard drive, 3 megs, 2 floppies. Could you please
respond to Andy at 74214,3545.
Thanks all!!
If you have AmigaDOS 2.0 (or 2.1) and a hard drive you could download
AutoPilot here in the AmigaVendor area and that program will download and
display GIF files like weathermaps etc., while you download them.
In your configuration however I suspect you'll just have to use a terminal
program and download them and view them offline with something like one of
the GIF viewers available in AmigaUser.

Mark,
I've just read your reply to the user asking about downloading weather
maps.
I didn't know AutoPilot displays GIFs whilst downloading. How do I get it
to do this ?
( I am using the registered version ).
Thanks
Tony.

Read the README and CHANGES files that came with AP
Yep,
You can go to the Weather forum (GO WEATHER) while in Hands On and select
the option that says "View the weather map" or something to that effect.
It will be displayed. There are some caveats with non-AGA machines that
you should check in the AP.DOCs about.
You can also instead of using the DOWNload command you use the READ
command while downloading a GIF and it will appear on your screen too.
Frankly, I love it.

Thank you for the info. 🙂 Andy
Andy,
As most of the weather maps are UL'd in GIF format you will need a GIF
viewer. The one for your system would be a file found in AmigaArts forum
called VT105.LHA. This is ViewTek v1.05 and is able to view GIF files.

Andy,
Look for GVIEW4.LZH over in AmigaArts. It will view gifs and convert them
to IFF files.
