The 8 meg version is a new board, not an upgrade (the memory is soldered
in). I believe there is a 16 Meg version of the DRAM board available too.
Memory World here in the U.S. is a good source for CSA products.

I think the 16 Meg is just for slingshot, as CSA didn't mention it (I'd
have bought it if they did). The only problem with it now is the inability to
put 3.1 in SROM.
I'll have to look into replacing the half-meg SROM. I assume that's
why CSA didn't solder it in, though they did solder the DRAM.

If you find out, let me know. I hadn't even thought about the SROM size
before, and I'd hate to give up that speed increase.

I'm using my mmr with no SRAM. I use CPU (C= supplied) to move ROM into
DRAM. A very noticable gain in speed. Of course, it didn't seem to speed
anything up before I put in a 'real' 68030 w/MMU. It seems like that
should still work even if the image is larger…?

Robb,
I have tried both and I must say, everything's noticably faster if the OS
is in SROM than in DRAM. And you don't need a CPU with MMU, CSA's little
tool fixes this for you… ;^)

It should work fine with dos 3.0 in DRAM but that steals some of my precious
contiguous memory away. Then what do I do with a half meg of SRAM? It's okay.
Imagine runs under 1.3, I can keep my memory available.
John, I've heard (from Expert Systems) that the 3.0 ROMs are only
512K, so that it should fit in the standard SROM. We will see.
Karl,
I think the _3.0_ ROMs are 512K but there's 2 of the little suckers…

Steve wrote that his 3.1 ROM only has 512K, so there is still hope…
I have a small daughter board with only every other chip soldered in,
so is it just the matter of buying some chips and do a bit of
soldering?
sIf the 3.1 ROM is only a half meg then it's the same size as 2.04, yes? I
should be all set since I have that much SRAM installed. It's just a jumper
switch from 1.3 to 2.0.

John,
yes, OS2.04's ROM size is 512K, too, and happiness is only a jumper
switch (and a new ROM) away, IF the 3.1 ROM stays 512K until actual
release (Steve, as a registered developer, has the beta release
ROMS/WB).

As far as I know, at this time there is no 3.1 ROM, it uses the 3.0 one.
So the size shouldn't increase.
-Karl Speaking from the Rubble.
I understood that it would be the 3.0 ROM, I was merely referring to the idea
of a 3.1 DOS version for everyone. My only worry now is that the 3.0 ROM won't
work in my machine (the 2.05 ROM doesn't).

Oh really? I guess I better call CSA, the 2.05 shouldn't be any bigger
than the 2.04.
-Karl Speaking from the Rubble.
The problem with 2.05 isn't the MMR it's just that it doesn't work with 500's.
I've heard it works so-so with late revision 6 motherboards.
