Nec CDR25 CDROM – only 2 available @ $139.00 90 day wty, factory
packaging w/cables, power supply.

can you give us some specs on the NEC CDR25? Access time, single or
double-speed? (Surely it's not multisession at that price?) Any front-panel
controls, headphone jacl, volume control, music CD controls such as Play? Is it
an internal or external model? Does it need a caddy? Thanks.

Charles – CDR25 is porportable, no-caddy, top loading, separate
wall-plug -in power supply, scsi cable included (but no pass thru, it
is too thin), terminator switchable (but recommended ON as there is
no pass-thru), SCSI unit switches on bottom, front panel headphone
stereo jack with volume control. 650ms access, 150K/second transfer
(1X speed), no photoCD. Just a nice basic budget CDROM which works
great with Xetec driver software on many Amiga configurations. I've
sole 'em as far away as Japan. Happy customers. No music CD
controls on unit, but the Xetec programs include a beautiful music CD
player system which works great with CDR25. I think these are ideal
for basic CDROM user who wants Fred Fish, CATS CD, etc. and/or music
CD. Probably not the right system for advanced CDROM user. But hard
to beat on a budget. Don't worry – if you need a more advanced CDROM
(new triple speed perhaps?) just ASK. Also the CDR25 from NEC can be
operated by BATTERIES! Truly a bargain portable unit.
I'm getting an A2000 with a 40 meg SCSI drive. How would I hook this CD into
it? Wags
If your Amiga2000 has a SCSI controller with an external SCSI
connector (25-pin, looks like a modem cable connector sort of) and it
is one of the controllers supported by CDROM driver software (I like
the Xetec driver myself) then it just works. I've used these CDROMs
on an A4000 w/4091 SCSI controller, A1200 with CSA 12-guage/SCSI,
etc. and other customers and friends have used 'em with GVP,
TrumpCardPro (with IDC/Centronics cable from us or from IVS), etc.
Without specific knowledge of your controller I can't say what your
setup would be like. Some controllers just won't support CDROM at all
(older GVP's need to be updated from feedback I've gotten from
customers). Some A3000's don't like some CDROM's and external
devices of various types, either. Hope that is helpful.
