#MAC to PC?
4 messages in this thread
I have a question concerning file conversion. I want to be able to import
graphic files into 3ds for use as decals. The problem is that I do all of my
graphic design and image processing on a MAC. With the MAC's basic software it
is no problem taking files from my PC and opening them in my MAC based image
processing software. However I need a way to take images that I have created in
the MAC and convert them into a format that 3ds can recognize. I have seed ads
for programs that claim to do this but I was wondering if anyone out there has
used any of these programs. If so I would appreciate any suggestions for a
modestly priced file conversion utility.
Thanks, Matt Smith
I do the exact same thing you do. I use photoshop and many other apps
to my 2d work. I convert the pictures I create with Photoshop, which can
convert just about ANYTHING! Personally, I convert my graphx to GIF format.
THe results are perfectly acceptable in 8 bit mode with blurring on in 3d
Studio. If not, you can convert your stuff into TGA's as well. If you do not
have Photoshop for the Mac, try looking in the MacAPP forum of on ZIFFnet for
shareware conversion utilities.

thanks, Ed I found a great application in the graphics support forum. It will
convert many formats (incl. JPEG) from Mac to PC and back again.
Thanks again, Matt Smith
On the PC side, look for Image Alchemy. (probably in the graphdev area) I've
used it a couple times to convert tga's to pict's with no problem. (it does
jpeg, gif, tga, pict2, you name it.) The shareware version supports upto
640×480, and the registered version allows huge file resolutions.
