Hello Amiga-fans There is a new Turboboard for the Amiga 4000/30. It is developed by the company Advanced Systems & Software in Germany. Performance is doubled. It is baced on a 68030 with 50 MHz. (the chip includes a MMU) The board is ready to be upgraded with a coprocessor. It replaces the normal processor-board. The price in germany is without coprocessor 595 DM (thats about 350 $) CIAO Robert Schaffner (flying on Autopilot and a 4000/030 at moment without turboboard)

Robert, Sounds like a great system – now if only CBM was still selling '030 based 4000's. What ever happened to the "cost reduced" line, anyway? Jonathan

Tony, Albany, NY. Last we heard here in the states is that the '030 based model was kaput…is your '030 the same 4000 as always, or perhaps the "cost-reduced" wonder we've been hearing rumors about? Jonathan

Jonathan, My '030 A4000 is the same as usual – over here in Britain we've never heard of a "cost-reduced" A4000. Is this a new rumour or an actual new-spec ( cut-down? ) A4000? Tony Driving my deck on AutoPilot

Tony, All we've heard is about a new 4000 possibly coming; same features as before, but cheaper to build. Cheaper to the consumer? Don't know. I think some of this was mentioned in the Haynie/Jessup conference. I also think it was mentioned that the '030 version would not have a CPU card (open slot), while the '040 version would have the CPU card. Again, don't know…. Jonathan

I own a normal 4000/30. And there is no reason to produce only A-4000/40. In germany in the last term were over 7000 A- 4000/030 and only 3800 A-4000/40 sold. If C= produce a cost reduced A-4000, it will have also a processor slot. So you can expand the 4000 with the 4030 Turboboard. If C= only produce A-4000/40 the sales will decrease rapidly. CIAO Robert

Looks like C= U.S. is running around with a smoking gun again… (and a smoking shoe to prove it…)
