Has anyone out there used the new Targa 2000 desktop video production engine?
It sounds hot! It appears that you can grab video in real time and also print
to tape in real time. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has done
an animation with this board and printed to a non-frame accurate (ordinary!)

We have one on the way… it is hot… that's the word already… a
non-mechanical VTR capability is what we SAW at NAB, but it will require lots
of harddisk space and writes in AVI format, not FLC (we know of programs to
convert though). Quality output to a standard VCR is tops too. -dave
Great! Let me know how it goes when you get the 2000. How much are those
things going for? Did you have to get a special hard drive (low tcal) such as
the micropolis 2217? Do you know if is supposed to work with faster, non-av
drives such as the barracuda? Oh yea, do you know how it will behave with
another sound board? I have a multisound and would like to use that for the
audio i/o rather than the built-in audio of the 2000. The specs indicate that
the 2000's audio should be pretty good though, and maybe it will be as good as
the multisound.

Details as we get them. Should work eith the Barracuda (nice drive too). Not
sure on the sound board, but a quick call to Truevision should verify that. The
2000's audio was (is) excellent. -dave
