Hi all,
well at last i have my paper direct catalog..Winter Vol 5. on page 125
are the inkjet papers which one is best for the canon bj200????
also a question about the BJ200 and the canonstudio driver, when
printing at the highest density (7) the printer only shows as printing at HQ
mode not SHQ is this correct? output looks good as it prints now……

Can't help you on the bj200 density question, but on paper, many people
have found Hammermill Laser Print excellent for bubble jets, both black
and color. Paper Direct sells it, but doesn't list it under the deskjet
papers..I don't know why.
Usually you can find it cheaper at an Office Depot or Office Max, than
from Paper Direct.

i found two diffrent papers like the one you mention, laser plus and
laser print… and there on the same page as the inkjet stuff..
ill give them a shot and see what happens….

The laser plus has what they call "wax holdout"…it's for people doing
paste ups with their print outs. Doubt you need to pay extra for that.

Use density 1 or 2 for printing with CanonStudio (this turns off the
drivers color adjustment and dithering as this is done by the CanonStudio
program).
SHQ can't be enabled by software. There is no command for it… no, not
even a hidden command. Don't ask me what this SHQ is all about if you
can't turn it on by software… but well… that's not a major problem, or
isn't it?

thanks for the reply.. When you say to use density 1 or 2 i dont
understand what you mean??? where do i set this at..
if it helps i use final copy II and excellence II for all my word
processing needs. mostly final copy, soooo what do i need to set and where.
as it is i get good output with canonstudio and FCII but its very slow
to print a final page and the lettering does not always look even…

It's said several(!) times in the manual when/why to set Density 1&2 and
when not. So far, you should use Density 1&2 only when printing from
Studio, CanonStudio, PageStream 2.x, ADPro's PrefPrinter, TruePrint. All
other programs should be used with Density >2.
Final Copy slow? For instance, I just got a "Report" dump (again, why does
nobody read the manual about Report!) from a Final Writer user who turned
on "Smoothing" in WB preferences. This makes dumps unnecessary slow. Also,
many Final Copy/Writer users print with the default density 4, wich
doesn't mean the printer prints with the highest resolution with most
drivers. Make sure to print with Density 7 (setup in FC!!!) for highest
resolution.

Read the instructions, Me… Your right i printed them out last night. i still
find alot of this very confusing and thank you endlessly for your help.. i
have been setting density to 7 when printing. as far as time for a page how
long should it take to print a page of text only at density 7 using a 12 point
font?? (i have a stock 500 with 5 megs ram)

I have been using Xerox 4200 DP 20lb. Paper from Office Depot with very
good results. Under $3.xx per 500 sheets. I sure have been pleased with
my BJ-200's printing quality. It is the first ink-jet that I've seen that
lives up to the ads saying near laser quality.

thanks for the reply… one other question, how are your printing
times. It takes almost 6 min to print a 360dpi page of text using a 14 point
font with final copy II.. seems awful long to me!!!

Hmm… 6 minutes per page? Well, this might be ok for a plain 68000 based
Amiga. On an 68030 the job should be done in a minute… depends on what
you print… I think Final Copy/Writer is one of the fastest applications
in this area… I have never seen an application doing similar things on
the Amiga with this speed… sure… on a plain Amiga it can be slow…
but guess how slow these things can be on an equally powered MS Windows
system ;-9 Beside you would have problems finding such an underpowered
Windows system ;-9
