#Another Suggestion
11 messages in this thread
Hank,
Add this to your list of "wish list" when you write to NewTek.
Some way of being able to see the last frame of an outgoing scene and the first
frame of an incoming scene, at the same time.
Maybe this has been suggested before, but if not, it would be extremly helpful.
I just received an AVID system to play with for about six weeks. This is a
feature that it has.
You ought to see my editing room now. On one wall is the AVID NLE. One the next
wall is my standard video tape editing system. And on the third wall is the
Flyer.
In about a month from now, I fear I will know much more than I ever did about
NLE systems.
I'll get a chance to start using the AVID tomorrow, it just arrived today, and
I spend most of the afternoon trying to figure out how to set it up.
Now if I could just get some work done.
Note the time of this message. I haven't been home yet. On my way now.
Goodnight.
Fred
Another little bit for the Flyer "Wish List" that I'd like to see…
I'd like to be able to use the 1/4 screen view in the new TPAINT.
I do a lot of close-up work, and while the new HAM8-looking screen
looks pretty good (a little bit of color distortion/fringing due to
the way HAM works, I suppose), the pixels are just too darn small
to work in close-up, and the zoom mode is just as useless in the
new version as it was in the old.

I'm glad some one feels the same about this as I do. Even in the old T-Paint
you had the choce between full screen and quarter screen. Now they have limited
our choices. 8-(

Alpha Paint! That Program Sucks!!!!
Just kiding.*8^) Just because I use A-Paint certainly does not mean I don't
use T-Paint. I think That T-Paint has really gotten a bum-rap Ther are a lot of
things you can do with it that you just cant do any were else. Not to mention
that you can use it without shutting down the toaster and the File reqesters
are still easer to use than A-Paint.

I use TPaint on occasion for a quick touch-up or a simple "texture" map tiling
operation. But, by the same token, if I have to cut a 2 x 6 and there is a hand
saw and a Skil saw on the table in front of me, and the power is on, I'll go
for the electric one…

It sounds what you're really saying is that the new TPaint should have a
better zoom mode. I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not sure how this one came
about, but I find it 'bleeding' into other pixels and making touchup very
tedious.
Of course, you could use AlphaPaint and never look back.

I've been thinking that -every- version of Tpaint (and Digipaint –
yes, I do go that far back on the amiga) needed a better zoom mode.
I'd just really really like to be able to use the HAM-res 1/4 screen
view that I'm used to. The new view is absolutely no good for the
kind of touch-up and close-up work I spend a lot of time doing.

I remember DigiPaint too. But if you're looking for a great paint program
with zoom features, try AlphaPaint. Not only can you zoom in for pixel by
pixel painting, but you can zoom out to work on the overscan border!!
We have a special on through 2/28. Let me know if you're interested.

Hank-
Well, I don't really need the ability to zoom in and out too much.
The 3.1 Tpaint's 1/4 screen was close enough for me to work in.
For now, I'm just writing up a couple of scripts/requesters to
switch between Tpaint's, since the old one will work with the Flyer.
But if I had around $500 to spend, I'd probably nab AlphaPaint.
But hey, rent, alpha paint, rent, alpha paint… It's an easy
decision, unless AlphaPaint has a box big enough to live in. 🙂

(This thought just occured to me – I wonder what Compuserve would do
if we started uploading out favourite Flyer Clips? *laugh* )
