#Lightwave on Mac?
9 messages in this thread
Please excuse this if redundant, but I don't see anything on this topic and I
am new here. I've heard rumors of Lightwave being available on the Mac/ PC
soon. Any truth and details? Thanks
Reg Harris
Current announced plans for LightWave are Windows NT and SGI. I know beta
testing for those products is going on right now. Expect release, or
significantly complete versions on display at NAB, April 10-13. Although
there have been discussions here, I don't believe NewTek has made an
announcement yet concerning Mac.

Thanks for the info….my fingers are still crossed hoping!
I'd really like to see how Lightwave would perform on the new 604 PowerPC Macs
coming in a couple of months and thereafter.
Reports from Beta tester indicate that the Windows NT with the Pentium is
pretty fast. Maybe we'll have to design a machine independent test file
and start the race.

The suggested retail for the SGI and NT versions is $995. We're
prebooking now.

Henry,
You know anything about the U/G policy for current LW 3.5 users??
I'll be going with the Alpha NT vers., Looks like my boss may be wanting to u/g
our PC workstation :^) My vote might go to a DEC XL/pc with an AXP 275 u/g.
Starts at about 5k :^)
Kick some Mac PPC Butt….
I want an Alpha at home, atleast til THEY start making Amigas again.

John,
If the current version is the standalone version, there is an upgrade
special.
If your copy of LightWave is part of a standard Toaster system, then
you'll have to buy a complete full-cost version for the PC.
That's the current policy. They may reconsider based on NAB reactions and
interest.
