#Help! A Fit Over Fit!

I'm using 3DSR3……. I'm creating a small dividing wall with a 2" piece of
trim around the bottom. It's 30 feet long, 4 feet tall, and about 1 foot deep.
I know there's an efficient way to do this an include the trim with one sweet
loft. Here's the interpretation…hope it works….

It's so simple but I can't figure it out. I'm using "front" for fit X and
"side" for fit Y. The loft shape is a quad that is the height and width of
"front".

Rather than use Deform Fit, wouldn't it be easier to make the wall, then make
the base, then boolean them together (if necessary)? Or is there more to the
problem than the simple picture?
If you really need to use the Deform Fit, then you can move the vertices in the
corner (where the step meets the wall) up some small amount. This will loft
with Fit but leave a small angle on the top of the trim. Then (if you lofted
with PathSteps=1), you can easily select just the vertices in the corners and
drag them down in the Editor till the top of the trim is not angled.

I would loft two rectangles (when viewed in plan). I would loft one 4 feet
tall and the other 2". I wouldn't worry about the overlap and I wouldn't worry
about creating two pieces instead of one as you'll no doubt wish to assign
different materials to the two pieces.

You can loft the object using a rectangle or square(isn't important since the
shape will be fitted to the profiles). Have you used Deform/Fit/Gen Path and
then with Path detail set to Low?

Yeah, I realize that the size of the lofted shape isn't important. I thought I
could use this to learn a bit more about the "fit" function. I ended up just
lofting to pieces and then attaching them. Brent Bonet – POP! Multimedia

I created the model with fit in about 5 minutes. Here's the profiles I used:

With a rectangle as the shape and after using Fit/Gen Path. I created the shape
with Path detail = Low. When you create the object it will need to be rotated
in the 3D Editor to lie flat on the ground.

Hmmm, That's pretty much what I did. I got the basic shape with a couple of
wierd oddities that deformed the shape. I'll try it again with path detail
