Are there any third party packages that will let me import a x.3ds file and render it? I know that some people are doing it with POV Ray , but Pov does not import the materials info or lightes.

Digimation has RAYMAN (?) – you could take a look in this forum for uploaded files with the keyword RAYMAN for some info. Also, check the message in our IPAS section asking if it is BETA or not.

It sounds that you`re looking for RayMan! RayMan is a 3D studio raytracer that reads your .3ds files with all settings (textures, lights, camera settings and so on…). RayMan is available from Digimation for a special price of 595 U$ until mid of march. Ask the Digimation guys for more information… Michael
