AmigaGuide help
3 messages in this thread
To any AmigaGuide adepts,
I am occasionally coming across AmigaGuide files that won't load and I can't
figure out why. The AG error message is either "Can't find node" or it's
"Can't find database". I have looked at the files in Diskmaster, and they
appear to be identically constructed to the ones that do work. I am running
AmigaGuide on my A2000, using the amigaguide.library v34.11. I done things
like write the full path of the default tool in the .info icon, as well as
rewrite the full path to the database after the "@master" command line.
Nothing I did changed anything. And I could not find any reference in the
AmigaGuide.doc to error messages and how to troubleshoot them. Any help is
appreciated. Thanks!

Sean:
"Can't find node" means that AmigaGuide can't find the "Main" node (the
first node has got to be called "Main".)
"Can't find database" could be that the file isn't a guide file, or
doesn't have .guide appended to the file.
Hope this helps.

If the amigaguide file calls external databases, there may be a hardcoded path
or an assign in the links. These means you would need to recreate this on your
system. There is also a debug mode which is described in the amigaguide docs
somewhere. There have been a few versions of amigaguide. Some support different
features and I cannnot be sure of reverse compatibility. An older version could
choke on a file created for a newer version.
