This is the worst news I have read today ! So, what ? There won't be anymore US Amiga magazine on the shelves ??? I think such a decision is premature as the issue of CIL buyout is not yet known ! I am very very sad ! Good luck to the folks at AW anyway ! Long Life to the Amiga Personal Computer ! Philippe REUX Motorola 68040 Inside

Philippe, There is, and will be, a US Amiga magazine on the shelves — Amazing Computing. They were the first independent Amiga magazine (AW was financed by Commodore in the beginning) and, in my opinion, the best of all the US based Amiga mags.

"Amazing Computing…the best of all the US based Amiga mags." As my ol daddy used to say, " Son, there's no accounting for taste". 🙂 And, given the current low volume of Amiga advertising being placed, I wouldn't bet the ranch on AC's continuation…unless something happens very quickly. Do you have info that would contradict the owner/publisher of the mag?

Nope, no inside info. And with AW folding its tent, it may work to AC's favor. But I still wouldn't bet the farm. Economics is economics…and right now, I'd hate to have my livelihood depending on the Bozos in the Bahamas. 🙂 Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Gary, Loved your letter in PC Mag this month. (Machrone's column, I think…) Well said. …Denny

Thanks Denny Wondered if anyone noticed. I had fired him that reply over on Ziff Net, and was very surprised when he both responded and then used it in his Editor's column. Even sent me a nice PC T-shirt ! Got my last AmigaWorld today. Nice to see we were both in at the finish. Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Steve – Do you (or anyone else out there) have a phone number handy for someone interested in subscribing to Amazing Computing? I've never read any other Amiga magazine than AW, and somehow get the feeling that AC is not a mag I'll find in Waldenbooks or the local supermarket…

Garry, No, I don't, however you might drop an email to Amazing's publisher, Don Hicks. His user ID is 76174,2404. I don't subscribe to Amazing but pick up a copy monthly at a nearby newstand (called, interesting enough, The Newstand) along with various UK Amiga mags.

Hey, I'm in Oklahoma, and I can usually find Amazing Computing right next to AmigaWorld on the Bookstore shelves. That is, when they haven't all been snatched up. Unfortunately for AC…most of their advertisers are identical to AW's, running exactly the same ad. I seriously doubt it will cause much of an increase in their advertising inches. I am HOPING it will. Sean.

Sean… WHERE do you find them?
#187367From: SEAN KELLYMar 3, 1995 8:36 PM
Jim…i get them at a couple of place in Stillwater, downtown at Caravan Books and also at Hastings, a chain oiutlet. I complained to Hastings about it one time and they said they'd get some and have. Sean

Thanks! I live in Hawaii, and the only local Amiga Dealer has only a couple of Euro-mags and AW.

Amazing is on the newstand at my local B. Dalton's bookstore. Waldenbooks doesn't carry it, but they do stock Video Toaster User. MOS via Autopilot & Amiga

Actually, my local Tower Records/video/whatever carries it (New York Upper East Side), though everyone assumes you can't get it in stores. Marion Deland CROSSINGS – Newsletter for Amiga/PC/Mac compatibility
