Volker,
You are a bit confused. There is a terminal program for the Amiga called
BaudBandit — it used to be sold by Progressive Peripherals before they went
out of business. I'm not sure if the program is currently available elsewhere
or not (the author was separate from the publisher). I personally don't use
it, but I know that many folks do.
It is not the same as (or related to) the serial.device replacement to which
you refer, which is shareware and available here in our libraries. There also
is no problem accessing Compuserve using 8N1, as I do it all the time. You
just have to have your term program set to "strip high bit", or ignore the
initial gibberish at the UserID: and Password: prompts and type "blind".
Hope this clarifies things a bit….

Thank you for info. Did not know that there is or was a 2nd Baudbandit on the
market. That must be confusing.
I use the BaudBandit.device with Term 4.0 and stripped the higher bit. It was
working. However now I use AutoPilot and there is no Bit to strip. So I use the
serial.device. I tried AutoPilot with the BaudBandit.device, but it won't work.
AutoPilot told me "Can't open BaudBandit.device".

I currently use Baud Bandit (commercial) and it does have th versitility to
