Hi,
one of the eternal questions in the trade:
How can i convert foo-files to the bar-operating system.
In my case "foo" happens to be AMIGA-DOS and "bar" turns out to be MS DOS.
My Mother in Law tries to convert bundles of recipes and stuff to her new
MS-DOS PC.
(I see you laughing mate!)
You know people who don't take no for an answer. Quite right! She's one of
them.
So please: Hints, Tips and Pointers are welcome.

All your Mum-in-law needs is CrossDos or MultiDos (available here, I
think, as a download). She can then format 720K PC disks right in her
Amiga; save her recipes in ASCII text format; stick the disk into her PC
and read those file right into her word processor.
I do it all the time.
Course, if you don't like her cooking, keep the above info to yourself and
tell her it can't be done! 🙂

But one question occurs:
I can download the files from here to my DOS-PC.
But how do i get them to the AMIGA to run these programs?

You are in the same boat I am in. I download the files on my IBM PC, copy them
to a 720K floppy, put the floppy in the Amiga, use CrossDos to allow the Amiga
to read the PC floppy, and copy the files onto my Amiga harddrive or an Amiga
floppy, and un-arc them. IT IS REALLY BECOMING A PAIN IN THE ***. Especially
with files which are larger than the 720K floppy (haven't figured out that one
yet). Some might say "Why not hook the modem to your Amiga" which I could do,
but I am not familiar with AutoPilot (= to WinCim), I like using WinCim, and I
like having my Amiga free to do other things as I pound on the keys on my IBM.
Very shortly I am going to look into serial-to-serial hookup between my IBM and
Amiga or hooking up a HD floppy (1.44MB) on the Amiga. Good Luck :).

Format a 720K disk on your PC. Do NOT use a 1.44K HD disk…the Amiga
can't handle that format.
Download your Amiga program to the PC; copy it over to the 720K PC Disk.
Go on the Amiga; run CrossDos or Multidos; insert the 720K PC into the
Amiga drive and it will be recognized. Now, transfer (copy or move) the
program to the Amiga hard drive, or onto a RAM: disk. Finally, once
you've got it to the Amiga, you'll have to run LHA to decompress it.
As you can see, you cannot download files larger than 720K using this
method. If your PC has a hard drive, you could download larger files,
decompress them on the PC (using a PC version of LHA) then copy the files
individually to 720K disks; then copying them again from the 720K disks
to the Amiga hard drive.
If your Amiga has only floppies, you're stuck with the 720K limit.

ooops, it just dawned on me maybe you were asking how to download Multidos
and use it on the Amiga. That IS a problem. You must have one or the
other on the Amiga first. The only way to do that is to borrow a copy
from a friend using 2.1 or above Amigados, where CrossDos was a part of
the operating system. OR have a friend download Multidos onto an Amiga
disk that you can use. No way around that one, I'm afraid.
If all else fails, I could mail you a copy of MultiDos.

Why did you let your mother-in-law buy an MS-DOS PC first of all?
Just print the recipes out and let her type them in for buying that machine. Do
you know why the PENTIUM chip was never called the 586?
On the first prototype, they typed in "486 + 100". The result was
"585.997864432617" 🙂
On the other hand, you could try it with CROSS DOS!
