#Weird rotation
4 messages in this thread
I've created a car accident scene where the car goes for a block and a half and
then rotates clockwise for 180 degrees and lands on its top with a slight twist
to the left in 3DS4 Keyframer.
When I went back to frame 0 the car had rotated slightly so that the front
wheel were slightly below pavement and the rear wheely were slightly above
pavement.
When I did a slight -2.00 degree "Y" rotation (hit tab key two times for
correct rotation) the car does all kinds of flips and weird rotations as it
goes down the street now. (I only rotated in "Y" axis and I have tried
everthing many times includeing Bias, tention, etc adjustments).
When I started my key rotate settings were X= .999696, Y= -0.01912, Z= .015578,
Angel 269.793. After rotation X= –0.99999, Y= .00173, Z= .001871, Angle
90.18602. If I rerotated back 2 degrees X= -0.99969, Y=0.019123, Z= -0.0157,
angle 90.20688.
Whats going on here? and how do I fix that first frame?
Thanks Marv………..
Hi Marvin,

You'll find that the easiest technique is to leave frame 0 alone and to start
all of your keyframing and rendering from frame 1. This trick is also true in
keyscripting where creating a rotation keys at frame 0 leads to unwanted twists
so you start at frame 1..
Talk about weird……. I went back into the form and saw this nice message
from you that spells out what I just did (my first response) and your other
tricks. I don't know where the first message came from but it did'nt give me
any fixes like the ones you gave me that I'm reading now…… I think it's
time for me to quit tonight…….
Thanks……..Marvie.
Sorry for the confusion but I know what happen….. I appearently downloaded
your response while you were still replying and all it said was "….."leave
frame "0" alone".
But, good it forced me to engague my brain……. Frame "1" solves a lot of
problems…. Thanks for a great response…. and I hope this explains my first
weird response… Marvin.
