Can anyone help regards I.V.S. trumpcard, I need information, technical, urgently, gor one thing the software supplied is hopelessly out of date, and I cannot Partition the 105Meg Quantum drive I have just bought. also board has blown! hopefully as far as I can see it is the interface chip (KS53C803CP)?. I figured that its equivelant is a S.C.S.I controller ic noNCR No NCR 5380, and also I understand that a NSC8490 is an enhanced version? can anyone help. Does anyone know Dealer in this country (UK), or a FAX No in USA ? any help much appreciated. Keith.

Keith, I hope you get things straightened out. I have a friend who works there, I simply called him and asked for his fax number <smmiiille>.

Heck my memories getting worse, so sory if I have already replied, I do not seem to have seen this one. Your freind, he works at IVS ? If so I would certainly like to get to know him, since I have just been in touch with them, and they will not send parts! fine thing, as far as I know the SCSI Inerface chip 53c80 (44Pins..44?), is what I am sure is the trouble, well it is now, I have hacked it off the board. actually gentler than that in reality, I have found over the years,(lots of them), it is normally better to chop the ic off the board, and then remove pins, and suck solder out, this leaves NO damage to the PC, which anyway is always a lot more valuabl than the chip. well I contacted IVS in desperation since I cannot find anyone here who can supply the (Samsung) chip! brilliant typical England, it is rediculous that i am forced to send the boardto USA & back, and pay through the nose, when a simple replacement would do. Don`t you think that anyone selling equipment here shouldbe obliged to carry parts ? I thought ther was some sort of legislation re this. Anyway unless you can let me know how to get the chip, I shall be obliged to send the board and wait, which means the brand new 105Meg Quantum drive I have just bought has had about 2 hours use! and is going to be a long time before I get it running, very dishartening, I was going to celibrate after I HAD FINALLY got read of my old A590, well it was slow but not as slow as things are now. P.S. I have been in Electronics for some 40 Years, and would be happy to take on these sort of repairs, but it s pointles if I cannot get the Parts, Cheers Keith.

Diamond still advertise the trumpcard at #99.95. Phone 071 580 4355. They are big but their service is poor. Joe Wylot (UK) – via Whap!

Thanks for the message, funnily I have tried them, they are a joke! I dought whether they know one side of a floppy from t`other, however I have just (literally) been faxing to USA, IVS, and they responded within fifteen minutes! I somehow think diamond would be unable to help, when I last tried them they didnt know what S.C.S.I. Was….. cheers Keith
