Found practically un documented AutoCAD variables, FACETRES and ISOLINES. Both
show up in the table of descriptions but not the index unless you know what
they are. Anyway, Facetres increases the number of facets on an exported
mesh/solid and isolines increases the number of display lines on AutoCAD
solids. Both resulted in exceptional renderings. Thanks for your reply.
Now, how do I get 3D Studio to ray trace light refraction throught transparent
objects? My glass tables and accesories look like ghosts, not glass.

Hi Michael,
I seem to recall seeing some examples in the libraries on how one can create
realistic looking reflections etc with 3DS. Sorry I can remember more, but
maybe some of the others can help.
There is also a ray tracing product that will work with 3DS. I have not tried
it myself, but you should find references to it in the libraries.

As John at Anigrafix has mentioned, NRP's 3DStudio Special Effects has a
chapter done by us that shows how to fake refraction in transparent objects.
For a more automatic and technically accurate representation you should talk to
Michael Bessier (100114,1717) about Rayman. It will read your 3DS file and do
a true raytraced rendering with refractions.
