#ATI Graphics/Vibrant
4 messages in this thread
I'm using a ATI Graphics Turbo Pro w/4meg video card. We just got R4 and the
Vibrant driver (which lists the card) does not work. VESA and VGA selections
work. Has anyone found a workaround for this? Thanks.

John,
Do you get an error message in vibcfg or what? Higher resolutions of the ATI
card are inaccessable unless you first use the utilities that come with the
card to specify the type of monitor that you are using. The ATI may not be the
best for 3DS work, but it will work.

John, about a month ago I myself had purchased an ATI w/4meg of VRAM and could
not get it to work. I tried contacting ATI support and they had advised me
that they could not forcast a fix for this problem. I had also experienced
problems when exiting windows and then going into ACAD12. So how did I solve
the problem? I bought #9GXE w/4 meg of VRAM, not as many bells and
whistles…but very solid performance. I did not contact the people who are
responsible for the Vibrant drivers because time was not on my side.
ATI experiences a love/hate relationship with their costumers, I have an ATI
Mach32 on my 486 and never experienced a problem…go figure.
Someone on this forum (please forgive me, I am really bad with names and my
mailbox) had recommended a patch for the problem you are experiencing…Look it
up in the Library.
I am not sure if I have helped you any, but at least you have a bit of history.

I don't believe I'm familiar with your problem with the ATI card. Try booting
plain, and let us know any symptoms or error messages. It should work with
105 and 106 of the Vibrant drivers. In addition, could you check out the
VIBBUG.TXT file? That will give Vibrant the information they need to help.
