Hi Jonas, Is this a product that I can simply download and use "out of the box" to do walktrhoughs with my 3DS meshes? Or do I have to program it? Please let me know… Thank you.. Alex K NGA Miami, FL

Alex, Jeff and I had been in close contact with these guys about 2 years ago. They are located in Gainsville so perhaps you might take a roadtrip and visit them. You can contact Keith Pace at Micron Green. We spent some time with them at Siggraph and their product was still very limmited to low res and high difficulty while navagting. It did however require the use of Crystal Eyes and a Speafire (I think that's spelled right) video card. I'm sure they have made improvements since August '94. I spoke with Jeff this morning and he suggests you pick up a copy of "Virtual Reality World". If you need to contact Jeff directly his cis# 75031,1525. -Lee

Hi! <<< It did however require the use of Crystal Eyes and a Speafire (I think that's spelled right) video card.>>> Just for the record, these items are two of many supported options, but are not requirements. Please check out the NAVSUM.ZIP file in the CDK section for the latest information on NAVIGATOR. And using any of the accelerator cards available, we can go up in resolution beyond 640 X 480, but the performance hit is hard when you try to push more pixels in real-time. I see you spoke with Keith at our place. Can you tell me what firm you are with? I am having trouble finding you…….. Angela

Jeff Reisner and I represent 3D Artists & Animators, a users group which was founded in Tampa and now has branches in Raliegh NC, and Hartford CT. We had started contacting Keith right after the initial press release in Autocad World. We were supposed to come for a visit but at that time the security was high and Keith never got clearance for us to come take a look so we settled for waiting for Siggraph where we spent several hours at your booth. -Lee

Hi Alex, << NAVFlyer.. >> You're best resource is to ask Angela Pate who hangs out in the CyberSpace section on ASOFT and you can find her often in the StudioCity2000 section in Go ASHOWCASE. jonas[adesk]

<<<<<<<Is this a product that I can simply download and use "out of the box" to do walktrhoughs with my 3DS meshes? Or do I have to program it?>>>>>>>> No programming needed. Today , just creative low polygon count models is the requirement. For speed, an acclerator card is necessary, not just VGA. But try it out with what you have. There is an adaptive mode to fly in wireframe until you stop to fully render. It helps on VGA. Be sure to WAIT a while when loading in the demo models, NAVCity.3ds and Museum.3ds for the textures to load. It takes a long time and many think the system is locking up. We are working on a fix for it so you will know something is really happening during a 3DS load. It's our first version in Windows. I appreciate all feedback, both good and bad.
