Hello, I have been a semi professional video user for some time and are now seriously comtemplating going to non-linear video. I am also new to Compuserve so I am a little unsure of where to go. I work from home in the middle of Australia (Tennant Creek, Northern Territory). Because of the isolation, I wish to meet and discuss with other users of non-linear video how they have gone about setting up their businesses and what markets they are in. I would also be interested in finding someone in Australia that maybe able to help. I would appreciate any advice that you may be able to provide that would help me start. Cheers.

Hi Russell, I think that you have found a good spot to hangout and catch the latest in DTV techniques/hardware/software. There are many users online here with experience in non-linear (read:digital) editing technology. Please feel free to ask anything and volunteer as you can to any discussion. -John

Hi Russell, How are thinks down under?? I run a video production company in San Diego California here in the states. I don't work non-linear as of yet though. I edit with a Video Machine From FAST Electronics in Germany. The VM is a PC based desktop system that works great. There is a non-linear add on to the system but at this point in time I can't justify the expense. The majority of the work that I have done is event coverage, mostly weddings with a few corperate jobs here and there. I have also done a few music videos for local artists. Although theye are lots of fun to do, there is not much money in it. Anyway, I have recently changed the focus of my business towards the production of special interest videos. I have just completed one on how to make decerative photo albums, and plan to market it to the craft industry. After spending 2 years making other peoples videos it was one heck of alot of fun to make my own. If you have any questions I would be glad to answer any that I can. Regards, Michael W.
