I'm a new Miro Premiere products user (in fact new to PCs… x-Amiga) and I'm having trouble getting anything close to full performance out of my Miro boards. Right now I can only get about 75% JEPG out of the DC1tv board. It may be a hard drive problem… but I thought you at Miro might know some ways of maximizing the capabilities of my system. Here's my system: non-linear editing using Premiere, on a P90 with an Adaptec 2940W SCSI controller and a 1GIG Fujitsu ( M2694EQ-512, SCSI-2, 1033mg, 512 bytes/sector, synchronous, SCSI linking, command queuing, wide SCSI (16bit)…. This was read from the Adaptec SCSI Interrogator. )… I'm using the Fujitsu till I figure out which drive to get for digitizing (most likely a 4 Gig Micropolis SCSI-2 Fast/WideAV drive). The Fujitsu came with my PC and is the sytem disk. For now it seemed to me that I should be able to use the Fujitsu… that it should be able to keep up with the demands of digitizing. I am digitizing from Hi-8 (Y/C). My Miro boards are DC1tv & PCM1 (sound). I think I've figured out the capture process finally but my read write speeds (as measured by Miro's HDspeed program are very slow! i.e. roughly 450kB/sec and less, particularly writes. Can you suggest anything. I have deleted the SMARTDRV lines form autoexec.bat and config.sys… as someone seemed to suggest but nothing was gained. I, oddly get best performance by setting cache (under control panel/386/virtual memory) to 16 bit disk and file access and 512 Kb cache. That seems wrong. Any advice experience you could offer would be much appreciated. 32 bit Disk access doesn't work (16 bit drive??). 32 bit file access does but I can only increase my read speed (alot), writes actually get slower!! I've inquried on the Adaptec Forum as well but there seems to be something around how Miro accesses disks too?? Thank you very much for your help. Tom
