#GPFax Compatability.

I am talking with David Czaya about buying his GPFax software. I have a PPI
PM288MT II V.34 modem that is Group 3 Class 1 and 2. Here is an excerpt from a
message from David:

He is concerned that his copy of GPFax will not work with my modem. I read in
"Connect Your Amiga" that there was a Supra specific version, but David's
manual does not say that is what he has. Does anyone know of a way to find out
for sure?

The best and easiest way is to find out what version he has. If it's v2.346
or better, then it does not really matter if you have a non-Supra modem or not,
the program on installation will detect the modem and install the correct
version needed. If he has an older version, it may be better for you to just
purchase the latest version (v2.347 I believe) direct and save yourself
hassles. I say this as there is no way to upgrade versions older than 2.346 to
2.346 short of purchasing that version (or the latest).

Ask him to run the GPFax software and click on the about command. If it is the
Supra version, it will say "Supra Modems ONLY Version." GP Software created a
Supra version, a Class 1, and a Class 2 version, but now the Class 1 and 2
versions are sold as one package.
Before you buy the Supra version, call Micro R&D. They are the distributors of
the GPFax Class 1 & 2 versions, and see if they will let you trade versions for
free or for a small fee. Their number is 1-800-527-8797.
And nice choice on your modem. As a soon-to-be-former tech support employee at
PPI, it is a quality built modem, IMHO.
