I have just recently started to trace my family, and have a couple of suggestions. The easiest and nicest looking genealogy program I found was Scion (which I am sure is in the libraries here). Scion, however, does not at this point support GEDCOM files (a format that allows one to exchange data with other computer platforms). This may at first seem unnecessary to you, but I quickly discoved that I may need to get information from sources other than my family. Your Family Tree, a commercial program by MVP Software ([412] 378-0411), is also excellent, and does support GEDCOM. I recommend it highly. I own both. Good luck. Mel Greer (via AutoPilot)

Hi, Lu There are a number of genealogy programs for the Amiga – the ROOTS forum (GO ROOTS) has a library section (Other Software, I think it's called) with a file listing a number of programs. There are also, in the same library, some pd/shareware programs you can download, as well as a demo of Origins, which is commercial. I've used Origins 1 (I understand it's now up to version 2), but am currently using Your Family Tree, which is also commercial. Both of them have GEDCOM utilities, which is very important, as it enables you to trade data with other genealogists regardless of what computer they use. Most genealogists seem to be using IBM's or clones, and without GEDCOM, you'll have to input any data you receive by hand, which is long, tedious work. Any genealogy program worthy of the name should have the ability to link relationships between records. If I can be of more help, let me know. Flying low and slow …. on AutoPilot. Mary
