#Updt40b to large for mem
5 messages in this thread
Anxious to start using the new update I downloaded the files ( taking
4
hours of connect time @ 2400 baud) and tried to execute the files.
First Norton antivirus complained about each file having a virus.
My real problem now is that when I execute the file from DOS w/o
windows running and no other applications running, with a system of
8MB of memory, I get a error of "insufficient memory".
Any recomendations,
Dan
Daniel,
Unfortuneately, we have had reports of bugs in WINCIM. I would recommend that
you re-download the *.exe files without the *.txt files. This should solve
your problem. Diskettes will be available in 5-6 weeks if you don't want to go
through the download again. Contact sales at that time.

Help me understand the problem please, to give me confidence in spending 4 more
hours to download.
– Has WINCIM made some changes, on the compuserve end or on my end?
– Have the Desktop files been updated to correct problems?
– I have downloaded the latested WINCIM 3.1.1 and installed, but did this
before download of your files.
– Was this Wincim bad and should I redownload WINCIM?

Forget about WINCIM as being the problem. Just D/L the executable files in one
pass, ie: do not ask for any files with the extension .txt. The problem is one
of CIS, in that a compressed file D/L'ed immediately following a text file,
will be corrupted in some mysterious way which will prevent proper execution.
To my knowledge, there have as yet been no updates to the 4.1b files in the
lib.
Ken
Daniel,
Follow Ken Parker's suggestions.
Patch files should be available next week.
