#Extract problem
11 messages in this thread
I downloaded the UPDTE files yesterday; the transfer seemed to go OK. However,
when I try to run them, the computer hangs! All four files. Other files
retrieved from CIS work fine.
Has anyone reported a similar problem?

Steve,
We have had similar reports. Did you download the *.txt and *.exe files in the
same session. We have had reports that there may be a bug in WinCim that
causes conflicts. Try downloading the *.exe file separately.

Dean,

The bug is -not- in WinCim…
Ken
Ken,
That's what we have been told by other users and duplicated ourselves on
another forum; however, we have not confirmed with Wincim. Unless you try
re-downloading the *.exe files alone, we have no other suggestions. You may
have to wait until diskettes are available to get up and running, and reinstall
your older version for now.

Not using WINCIM, but rather OzCis2, which should (one supposes) know the
difference between a binary and text file. But ya never know. I'll try a DL
in its own session and keep you posted.
Steve,
Please do keep us posted.

I downloaded the UPDTE files by themselves and they ran fine. Do you have any
explanation for this?
New problem (maybe this has been reported before) – I tried to print one of
my v. 4.1a templates for a phone number list, and got a GPF. Any quick fixes?
Thank you for reporting your problems. We have had other reports of the same.
They will be forwarded to development for fixes. Look for a patches on-line in
the upcoming weeks.
So you are aware, Okna is in the process of moving to a new office to enable us
to serve you better. Responses to E-Mail and Faxes may be delayed slightly.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Steve,
The problem seems to be with CompuServe's download protocol. If you download a
text file and then a compressed binary file in the same pass, the binary file
gets corrupted.
There's a patch available now that will fix printing problems.

Thanks. I figured the compu$erve text-binary problem out. Also got the patch,
so printing is fine. Haven't found any other bugs, but will report them if I
do. Will you be sending out disks at some point?
best,
Steve
Steve,
We'll have a disk version as soon as all the patches are done.
