#Wizard Calendar Import

Hiya-
I'm generally quite satisfied with the upgrade, particularly the two way
communication with my Wizard 9500 for the Address Book. But I was quite
disappointed to discover two relative deficiencies:
1. The calendar still supports _ONLY_ export to the Wizard and not import from
the Wizard.
2. The calendar does not include any tool to reconcile multiple calendar
entries. That is, it does not seem to recognize that there are multiple
entries for the same event at the same time and there is no of "automagically"
reconcile these events and reduce them to single entries.
Please advise me that I'm wrong and show me how to accomplish these tasks or
accept these comments as items for the "wish list" for the next upgrade.

I'd like to echo item 1 emphatically!!! I like to use the Wizard as the
portable calendar I take to meetings. When dates are set for follow-on
meetings, I currently have to use the scrap book to record them, then go back
to DTS and reenter the information into the calendar. I'd much rather be
entering the information into the scheduler and importing the "changed" data
back into DTS later.
As for item 2, I'm not sure what is intended. However, if it has to do with
appending versus overwriting information, I'm perfectly happy overwriting
information on the export to the Wizard.

Sure, going to the Wizard it is easy, I'm talking about going out of the Wizard
and into DTS. I don't want to have to pick and choose item by item what to
export from the Wiz to DTS. I'd like to just give a range of dates, like a
week, month, etc. and then have DTS reconcile the calendar so that events
already in DTS wouldn't appear twice (or three, four, five, etc.) times when I
export the updated week/month from the Wiz to DTS.

I think I might have missed something here. I agree that I would want DTS to
be able to recognize changed (new) information since the last download. But
the point's a bit moot, don't you think, since DTS doesn't even offer the
option to "export from the Wiz to DTS"… or are you trying to influence the
future development of DTS?

Well, to be consistent with the DTS terminology I was using 'import' to mean
'import into DTS'. But yes, I'm expressing disappointment in the inability to
import calendar information from the Wizard into DTS and hoping that since that
same direction of information exchange was just implemented in the current
revision (4.1b) for address information, that it is possible that Okna
designers and programmers will see fit to implement Wiz—>DTS transfer of
calendar info. If that is done, some kind of reconciling system becomes
essential.
This import and reconciling function is necessary for those of us who do not
spend all day at our desk and make many appointments as we are moving about.
Trying to remember what is new on the Wiz and entering it into DTS (a task I
currently accomplish by flagging each entry with a symbol, searching for the
flag, copying the Wiz entry by keying the entry into DTS) is a nuisance. If
this one thing gets "fixed" (updated) then I've got everything I need in the
tool and I'll be a happy camper.

Thanks for doing so. For DTS to serve me as a full-featured PIM, two-way
communication with my Wizard "ectopic brain" calendar is a critical feature.
For now, I'll make some use of the DTS Address Book feature, but I'm still
stuck between DTS, Calendar Creator Plus, RuppLynx and my Wizard . . . wish it
could just be two of the four. 🙂
