I am getting a GPF in Winfax 4 each time it tries to read the DTS 4.1b 4.1b phonebook. This link worked very nicely when I first installed the upgrade from 4.0c to 4.1b, but lately I get a GPF that says " Faxmng GPF at WFXPB.DLL…" I have reloaded Windows, reloaded DTS and reloaded Winfax…erase the Winfax.ini…all with no luck. Again, Winfax works fine until I hit phonebook…it tries to read the DTS book…starts DTS, starts to read my addresses, and then I get the GPF. HELP!!!!!! I can't use winfax because I can't even switch back to the Winfax phonebook. Thanks, Doug

Douglas, I also have the same problem trying to integrate the DTS phonebook with Winfax 4.0. I've never gotten it to work right with the upgrade. But I think I can help you to at least get back to your other phonebooks in Winfax. In WIN.INI, under the section that is headed [WinFax], look for a line that begins with "Phonebook=". What comes next is the name of the phonebook that Winfax first opens when you select phonebook or try to send. This entry normally has the name of the phonebook that was active when you last closed Winfax. Simply edit the line to read "Phonebook=Default" or use the name of any other non-DTS Winfax phonebook. This should allow you to at least run Winfax. Just don't select the DeskTop Set phonebook unless you're prepared to have your system lock up. Before the upgrade, I would routinely export my DTS phonebook to a dbf file which Winfax can easily read. For some reason the dbf file export option isn't available in the upgrade. I'm actually worse off than before I upgraded. I hope Okna comes through with fixes soon because I get paid for getting work done, not for testing software. Very frustrating… Good luck to you. –Ed

Ed, Thanks for the tip! Fortunately, I accidently discovered that line in the WIN.INI file. So I am able to use both DTS and Winfax again. Ironically, when I first did the upgrade, the link worked just fine the very first time I tried it. In fact, it worked so well, I deleted all the entries in my Winfax phone book (stupid me!) The failure came a few days later, and I don't think I had changed anything. Mystery to me!! I hope, too, that OKNA finds a fix because when it worked, it worked great!! Thanks, Doug

Doug, The first major patches were sent to compuserve today. They should be available early next week. You may consider reinstalling 4.0c until they are available. Dean Okna Tech
