won't render w/ Z-Buffer
14 messages in this thread
Hi to all.
My 3D-Studio doesn't render with Z-buffer. I've changed the settings in the
3DS.SET file to
"Z-Buffer…..=yes" and rendered through V-Post to a TGA file with alpha
channel (just in case). When I used 'SEEZ.ixp" or "lenzfx" it doesn't show a
thing. the 'seez' shows a black screen .
What can I do?
With Thanks
Sus.
Sus,

SeeZ has a problem with antialiasing – try turning it off in the renderer
dialog

Sorry, Still a black screen….
Sus.
Sus,
<<black screen>>
hmm. . .
I've got to ask the obvious questions . . . 🙂
you DO have geometry in the view port?
SeeZ is placed LAST in the Video Post Queue?
I assume that you're not getting an error message. yes?

I have all my normal-every-time-I-rendered-before scene in my camera view port.
SeeZ IS placed last, and I'm not getting any error message. I'm just getting a
black screen and no option in my lenZFX on my TGA worked.
Sus,
Sus,
well I'm stumped! 🙂
maybe some brilliant soul out there can help you out?

PMJI, but make sure that "VPOST-ZBUFFER = YES" in your 3ds.set file.

In addition to the correct 3ds.set line, did you delete the semicolon at
the beginning of the line? Easy to miss sometimes. 🙂

<<delete the semicolon>>
ahh . . .that one's bitten me a few times!
Are you sure that you have version 4 or higher. Check the About 3DS option
from the info menu just to make sure. If you're still stumped, send me a copy
of your 3ds.set file via private e-mail and I'll take a quick look at it. I
had to become somewhat of an expert on the Z Buffer options while writing
Lenzfx.

Aaron,

Well correct me if I'm wrong but isn't one thing to use Z buffering from within
the renderer as part of the 64 bit rendering process, and quite another to be
using VP to compositing a Z buffer matte of only 8 bits?
John
Yep, but it sounds like shes having a problem just getting the z-buffer turned
on.

I guess this thread is moving pretty fast. Glad to see you're in Z-depth of
things. <g>
