Hi: I've been doing some exercises in Inside 3D Studio rel 4. ( I'm real new) I encountered a problem at page 798 in Chapter 15. Loaded 13DWALK.3DS into 3D editor and entered keyframer. Linked the tree structure of the mannequin, hand to forarm to uparm. Set the total frames to 17 and went to frame 1 to position the mannequin and nothing happens. Can't make the object walk. I wonder if there's an error in the book. Can someone tell me what's wrong? I sure am stumped. Frustrated, George

Hoops, have you made the motion adjustments in FRAME 1 ???? You have to make them in the 17th frame, otherwise no movement is achieved ! (I don't know the tutorial, but this is the way the keyframer works) -M

Hi George, >>Loaded 13DWALK.3DS into 3D editor and entered keyframer. Linked the tree structure of the mannequin, hand to forarm to uparm. It sounds like you might be giving up too soon. The excercise is split between pages 798 and 799. If you stop at the bottom of page 798 and try playing the animation nothing happens. You have probably positioned the model correctly at frame 1, but have not completed the other key frames described on page 799. Check that out and let me know if you need any more help. Steven

Steve: This was a case of misunderstanding the instructions in the manual. It made several references to "move" and only one about "rotate". I was trying all the time to pick the objects and move them. I finally realized that I should rotate them. Guess that's the price we pay for being inexperienced. Sincerely, George
