Does anyone have any opinions on using AutoCAD LT as a teaching/learning tool in preparation for the AutoCAD Certification Exams (Level 1 and/or Level 2)? Is there anything in either exam that is not available on LT? I have a proposal in to the local office of a larger training organization who are interested in running AutoCAD courses but are not thrilled at the cost of outfitting a classroom with a dozen copies of AutoCAD.

David…. LT has almost everyting AutoCAD has in 2D. The AutoCAD Certification exams are 2D only exams. There are a few things missing in LT (for some reason measure and divide commands) but the majority of things rea there… so why not? IMHO LT is fine for ACE prep… Roger C.

Dave – I just took the AOCE last month, and I think that you would be OK with LT. Hey, I like that, "OK with LT". Except for the AOCE's sections on "loading Lisp and ADS routines", and Region modeler, LT would probably be fine. I don't remember if LT has the Region modeler or not, but you could teach those issues "by hand", so to speak. Send a note to Barbara Bowen here at Adesk, or I could FAX you a list of topic areas from my Drake score report.

Randy – that's 2 for LT and one agin… (I posted a similar message on ARETAIL and Dave A from NAAUG thought it would not be suitable). I've been talking with Barbara on email but we didn't talk about LT. *Could* you fax me your list of topic areas? My fax no is 604-983-9017. Thanks, Randy! Dave

Hey dudes! I'm here! Randy took the Level II exam – so his score report would be different than level I. David – do you have the brochure on the Certification program? There is an up to date list of general knowledge topics. You can get one from Drake if not….800-995-3926. I strongly recommend buying the R12 Exam Prep Book from Delmar (800-347-7707). This will give you a better feel for the drawing sections. I don't know about using LT for prep. Candidates will be faced with a copy of R12 for Windows when they do the drawing section. I would send a message to Alan Kalameja 71321,53. He wrote the book, he is a member of the exam board, he offers prep courses, and is generally the expert guy. Barbara Bowen AutoCAD Certification
