PMJI, I have to jump in here and chide Adesk for not having an XGA driver. Yes, I can call Panacea and for about $79 (I think), I can get an XGA driver that will allow me to run AAPRO or ANIPLAY, or AAPLAYHI on an IBM XGA (which there are a LOT of out there, but my PC is not). My problem is that I lose all ability to send out demos and presentations to any of my clients using ANIPLAY. I'm sure my $79 does not buy me the right to distribute the XGA player to the world (do I hear an AMEN from somebody from PANACEA out there). Therefore, unless I can get all my clients to agree not to buy IBM, I don't have a player for them to use for my promotional stuff. Sure, Dave Masons Flick player will run on an XGA (thanks Dave), but it doesn't have the scripting ability of ANIPLAY. Of course, I can do everything in 320×200, which runs on XGA with ANIPLAY, but why would I want to distribute such terrible stuff as that. I think that Adesk would have been much better served by buying the rights to the XGA driver (or writing their own, sorry Panacea) and giving us a flic player that works on most PC's. I have seen many posts here saying that it is necessary to obtain GRASP and use that to produce demos to send out to clients. The only reason that is true is because ADESK doesn't supply a "public domain" XGA driver for ANIPLAY. ANIPLAY (click for next picture) demos are very effective, it is OK to distribute ANIPLAY, now if only it ran on XGA!!!!! BTW, one of my biggest clients is an "ALL-IBM" house, so those still exist (although rarer and rarer!). Do I try to get them to go thru the headache of loading the Windoze MM Player and getting everything running on every machine they want to run the demo on, or do I just have them run the ANIPLAY demo off the floppy (simple-elegant-impressive-impossible on XGA). Sorry to flame but ADESK completely missed it on this – my #1 complaint for AAPRO is that there is no XGA driver for ANIPLAY. Dennis P.S. to Fred: I have tried all the XGA pseudo-VESA drivers over in the IBMHW forum with no luck – if you have an XGA yourself it's time to bite the bullet and call PANACEA. If you are trying to distribute demos to people with XGA it's time to tell them that "Windoze is good" or, buy GRASP and use that to make demos. Good Luck!
