I've been interested in upgrading to Animator Studio since it was officially
launched last September. I haven't heard a peep from my "dealer" who sold me
Animator Pro. Will I be getting any official info from Autodesk on this
mysterious product? I would also like an 800 number (accessible from Canada)
that I can call to get dealer phone #'s in my area.

Animator Studio has not been released. We are expecting a Spring release. A
specific date has not been announced yet.
When a release date is announced, as an AAPRO owner you will be sent
information about AASTUDIO. Also, you should feel free to call your dealer
periodically to see if they have heard anything.

I believe according to the marketing terminology, the product "Launch" is the
first time that is is publicly shown to the press and/or attendees of a trade
show or exibition (i.e. it's first public exposure).
The product "Release" is when it is available for purchase.
I agree the terminology can be confusing.

I have a question. I saw a demo of 3D studio latest release. Will AAStudio have
the same rendering /redraw routine. I was blown away by the speed that the
image was rendered in full 24bit color on a 66 mhz machine. Also will AAStudio
have the lip sync capability that 3DStudio now has?

Clif,
3D Studio and Animator Studio are two completely different types of programs.
They are designed more to complete each other than perform the same functions.
3DS is a 3D modeling and Animation package (working with 3D geometry, meshes,
etc..) and AASTUDIO is a 2D paint and animation package (working with images
and pixels). Many people will be using both 3DS and AASTUDIO together as a
suite of tools.

Is Animator Studio still planned for Win 3.1, or will it be moving to NT. (Or
can't you say anything more than is in the release because Autodesk doesn't
discuss future products . . .) 🙂

The release planned this spring will be for Win 3.1.
I am not sure whether I am allowed to talk about future releases of AASTUDIO,
however I can say that Autodesk has announced that the next version of 3D
Studio will be released on NT.
