I had the pleasure to meet Sanford Kennedy at the 3D Art Forum in LA last week. I also got to peruse his new magazine, Pro CGI and was impressed. The unique angle of the computers ever increasing role in TV, Film, and Entertainment will make it essential reading. This info is not only for people currently involved in high end workstation based TV and Film but for anyone involved in the animation business. My hats off to you Sanford…Good Job and Good Luck! You can count me in. Ralph

<<I also got to peruse his new magazine, Pro CGI>> Wow, my first testamonial! Thanks much. I',ve been in Hollywood for twenty years and computer graphics is taking the production community by storm. Lots of excitement to write about. Sanford

I just got the new 3D Artist this morning. They're doing well! This issue looks better than ever…

John, <<This Issue of 3D Artist>> I think this is the best issue ever of the magazine. Bill Allen is really getting a feel for what his readers like. Sanford

I think there's a large unmet demand for a cross-platform, hands-on 3D graphics magazine. Computer Graphics World is a bit too hands-off, sometimes. I was worried that Bill wasn't going to try to move the magazine "up-scale," but it looks like he's on his way!

John, Even though it seems the magazine market is saturated, it really isn't. There is always room for a better magazine. Bill has made remarkable progress with 3D Artist in the last two years. Most of the other magazines meerly do product reviews and publish no-brainer press releases. Sanford

So you're saying we'll know you've hit the big-time when you start publishing "no-brainer" press releases? 🙂

Sanford, Just got the new 3D Artist with your Pro CGI in it. Very nice. Some very informative articles even though they didn't relate directly to 3DS. I really liked the short article on film composites. Keep up the great work. BTW, how's the bugs going? DM

David, <<PRO CGI — composites>> Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. As luck would have it, I am currently working on a movie compositing 3D STudio animation into film which jumps around, has no tracking data starting points, and the lighting is not planned correctly for CGI work. It is a nightmare to rotoscope with camera moves that dolly in, slide left and then zoom while the camera runs over a bump! ArrrrrrG! Sanford
