Dave Leeds 74454,3165 Subject: Amiga's future. It seems to me that we're all taking a passive stance regarding the Amiga. IMO, with no more Commodore, if the Amiga fails, it will be the fault of us (the users& third party developers), who "wait to see what happens." We're making a self-fulfilling prophecy! If users don't buy stuff, companies will go out of business or stop sell- ing product. If companies stop making product, users will abandon the platform. It's happening now! Users, make a point of calling / writing companies & dealers and telling them we're still out there. Also, purchases should not be put off if product is available. If the Amiga technology is purchased and new units reach the market, manufacturers will assume demand exists and keep making new product. Until then, send them lots of letters saying "if you don't make it, I can't buy it!" Keep dealers in business by requesting / buying things- even floppies, cables and magazines! If a dealer doesn't carry Amiga related stuff, ask them why. If they tell you nobody buys, say you will! Write publications and tell them when they're in error about the Amiga (Entertainment magazine said SeaQuest / Babylon 5 effects were done on "a simple Macintosh" recently). BTW, it has occurred to us that evil might be afoot in this situation. Has anybody contacted the FBI, SEC, FTC, or even the CIA, and told them what they know or think? How about 60 Minutes? I called the FBI in PA. They asked that I send a certified letter stating what I believe and why, along with documentation. If interested, I spoke to a Mr. Braxton at 215-829-2700. To do nothing is to let another good thing go down the drain, another community fall victim to corporate mismanagement (or worse). Do we really want to sell all our gear and buy PC's or Macs? This country needs all the jobs and success it can get today. Computers & software are two of the few things we have left to lead the world with. It's- dare I say it?- perhaps our patriotic duty to help this ship stay afloat!
