#A4000 Problem

We have an Amiga 4000 that won't reboot properly for atleast half an hour
after a crash. It gives us the big rainbow request for a boot disk (you
know the one). It will boot up with a floppy at this point, but the
harddisk is obviously not being recognized. After about 30 minutes, it
will reboot properly from the harddrive.
The computer is our Ami-link host, and it has twice recently crashed
during edit sessions. The crashes don't concern us, only the fact that we
have 30 minutes down time waiting to reboot. Has anyone solved a problem
such as this with their A4000?
BTW, the computer is an A4000/040 (not warped)/WB 3.0/18 MB RAM/Toaster
4000 unit with a DPS Component Adapter and Ethernet card installed.

Sounds like the crash is caused by a temperature sensitive failure and the
system must cool down before rebooting. Since the floppy works, it could be in
the IDE controller circuits, which could certainly cause a crash.
When we had a temperature sensitive problem, we used canned cold spray to
isolate chips and see if the problem cleared up. You might try that.

Do you do a power down, wait at least 15 seconds, then power up and still not
boot to the HD?
