I have been following this thread with interest since I also want to prepare a 3.1 kickstart file for my A3000. I used grabkick to get the 3.1 rom image from my A2000 and your ARexx script, thanks by the way, to make the kickstart file. After installing the file in the DEVS: directory and doing a power down restart, the machine came up to the purple screen with the disappearing (into the drive) diskette animation. The screen said 3.1 ROMS. At this point I inserted my 3.1 workbench disk. The screen went blank (stayed purple), the floppy disk access light came on, the disk whirred, stopped, and then nothing. I tried again with a 2.04 workbench disk and the same thing happened. I took a look at the tail end of the kickstart file and there are some references to wb_2.x and some other version numbers of things I didn't immediatly recognize. I'll try editing some of these things and see what happens. Ron

You may not be able to make a kickstart file for a A3000 from the A2000 ROMs. // \X/ Amiga lives? Gary Bonnstetter
