JMS (J. Michael Straczynski), producer of Babylon 5 wrote this in response to a
forum member's question as to whether or not Amigas were still being used for
3d rendering.

Foundation still produces our CGI, and are going over to DOS systems, not
SGI, which is hideously expensive and doesn't give half of what we can get from
Ron's systems.
We've already done far more extensive digital images this season than
"Sky," including "The Coming of Shadows." Expect several more real blow-outs
by season's end.

I believe Foundation has gone the same route as Amblin which is to
use more of the RISC cpus and less of the Amigas. These include machines
like Alphas with Windows NT but still run LW either ScreamerNet or the
Beta Windows versions.
Although most of the work isn't done on the Amiga it is using software
developed on the Amiga, namely LightWave. Heck, if I could afford it I
would throw out my Amiga and get a Alpha without blinking a eye but my
budget says otherwise.
