WANTED: FrameGrabber 2.0 Software by PP&S I recently purchased a used Framegrabber. I cannot get the FG to work with OS2.1(2.05ROM), only 1.3. I have the original FG software (1.01, Thanks! u no who u r), which works under 1.3. I know PP&S is out of business so I will declare that I will pay a licence fee to anyone who rightfully claims ownership to the FG 2.0 software and pay anyone who can get me a copy a nominal fee for your trouble and shipping. Of course if you want to sell the 'original' software (disks, manuals, etc) I will buy for transfer of ownership. BTW if anyone has had trouble with the FG and 2.1, And have found a solution PLEASE let me know, THANKS! John

John, I have an original version of Framegrabber, still with its original program (I bought it as soon as FG was first made available). Now that was when 1.2 was the standard OS. Now with 2.1 (and 2.05ROM installed) my Framegrabber still works just as well. The problems does not lie within your OS and ROMs. Perhaps if you could explain what happens (or doesn't happen)? <David L. Gold> Splunge Productions

David, Ok if you are willing to listen, thanks. When I do preview in ImageFx2.0 I can see the video coming in, adjust intensity, hue, etc. As soon as try to grab FREEZE. I get the sleeping pointer, and then the mouse will not move. I have to reboot (sometimes with a guru, but most of the time without) to get the computer going again). When I try to load the FG software, It just freezes (Before the opening screen). I once fooled it by having the FG unplugged. The software loaded telling me that it could not find the FG. I then hooked it up with the Amiga still going (I onlt tried this because I had read in an old review article on the FG that this could be done without possible damage). I could them preview in the software and set resolutions, etc. As soon as I tried to capture.. FREEZE! If you think of anything, please let me know. In the next few weeks, I'll probably start pulling boards to try to weed out any conflict problems. Basic setup: A2500/30 4Mb 32Bit rem, 2 Mem boards w/2Mb ea., ICD ADSCSI, A2090A HD controller, Syquest 88Mb internal. 40 Mb Rodime MFM dive. Thanks again, John

Zed, Try using the old FG software and see if it locks up as well.(Try to nail all poss. simular- ities). John BTW Do you have FG 2.0 software?

You *do* have the FG Hardware as well, right (it's a little black box with three dials, a video-IN jack, and a red LED on the front?) <Dave>

Dave, Yes, as I said it works under 1.3 but not 2.1. I have it hooked up as I assume it should be. I didn't get a manual with it. If you ead the reply from Zed, he seems to be having a simular problem. Let me know if you think of anything. John

Hmmm. Hooked up to the Parallel port I assume? If using an A/B switcher, switched properly? Only two things I can think of of the top of my head. If you want, E-Mail me a copy of your FG program (.LHArced or course) and I'll check it with my system. <Dave>

Dave, I'll try that in a few days. BTW do you have IMFX2.0 (or 1.5) and if so does your FG work with it? John

John, I can get the framegrabber to work even on my '030 accelerated A1200 with 3.0 (It doesn't take pictures very well, but it doesn't lock up :^) Maybe there is something wrong with the FG or the parallel cable? Rick, Good thought except that it probably would not work under OS1.3, which it does. John

But thats just it. I have had it working under 1.3, 2.0, 2.1, and 3.0. We are Homer of Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assim…MMMM, Donuts! Rick Green Via AP1.77

Rick, I understand that, but if there was something wrong with the Framegrabber it would not work at all. More likely if it is the Framegrabber there are probably some PAL chips that are an early revision (I peeked inside and saw what looked like PALs). The parallel port is ok;printer works fine. It also may be a device I have connected fighting for the same address or something. Anyway thanks for your thoughts and if you think of anything else, let me know.
