#R4 bug

When you create an object and then enter it's name, if you press the down or up
cursor key while typing in the name a special character is inserted into the
text. It does the same thing in R3 also.
If I'm wroing could you please explain why 3D Studio has this "feature"?

Hi David,
<< If I'm wrong.. >>
Nope.. it does it here too..Thanks.
That's because you have access to the entire ASCII character set. Try using
CTL+ some character or seen Shift+Backspace – all valid characters as far as
3DS is concerned (just don't try to DXF'em out <g>).

Yes, I'm aware that you can have any character in the name but navigation keys
shouldn't be inserted since these are normally used to navigate around a dialog
box. For instance when you press the Escape key you wouldn't want it to insert
the ESC character but instead exit the dialog box. Some characters simply have
to be reserved for the dialog box functionality. I think this was simply
something that was overlooked.

Your points make sense – of course only the Tab key is respected for navigating
in 3DS, so that only excludes Tab, Enter, and Escape.
And sometimes it's fun to give a coworker a file with smile faces for names
